Certain conditions are not necessarily dangerous but can be further described as “annoying” or more precisely as “unsightly.” They are also sometimes painful, so it is quite normal to try to relieve these pains since this kind of problems can quickly become disabling in everyday life. And this is the case for the bunion.
What is it really about?
The bunion, also called “Hallux valgus” in the medical community, is actually a type of deformation that touches the big toe, deflecting it to the other toes. This results in a modification of the visual appearance of the forefoot, especially in the part corresponding to the first metatarsal. Thus, when the big toe is deflected, it causes the appearance of what is commonly called a “bunion”, knowing that it usually causes pain that is triggered as soon as the subject walks or he puts on shoes.
Therefore, it suffices that this protuberance undergoes some pressure or comes into repetitive contact with a surface, most often that of shoes so that the skin in this area begins to thicken and take a reddish complexion as a result of inflammation of this hump, which is also called “bursitis”. It often happens that pains result from it, but it happens sometimes that all the elements mentioned previously are present but that the person does not feel anything at all.
It should also be known that the bunion has no particular symptoms, especially at the beginning of the disease, knowing that its amplification is progressive and passes through several stages. It is for this reason that you will notice that at the beginning, the offset of the toe is only minor, then with the time, this tendency continues so that the deformation is so important that it can even be found in below or above the adjacent toe.
How can a hallux valgus evolve?
The hallux valgus is a condition that evolves in waves, its aggravation is often manifested by pain from the inner side of the foot and usually increase when walking or wearing shoes. But what must be kept in mind is that the bunion is not only unattractive and unpleasant, it can also give rise to other problems such as corns, toes claws or still osteoarthritis.
What can cause a hallux valgus?
When we talk about hallux valgus, we talk about a foot problem that concerns more women than men. It usually originates from:
- Age from midlife
- Wearing inappropriate shoes: high heels, shoes too tight or with a pointed toe
- The flat foot
- The genetic factor
- Menopause
How is a hallux valgus treated?
In the majority of cases of hallux valgus, doctors prescribe to their patients analgesics or anti-inflammatories in order to calm the pains caused by this condition. They also recommend a more suitable, wider and more comfortable footwear, as well as rehabilitation sessions and orthotic braces if necessary.
These solutions certainly relieve pain but do not allow to rectify the deformation. Only when the prescribed drugs have no effect and where the pain and discomfort become unsustainable can a surgical operation become possible.
However, there are natural and simpler ways to soothe all the inconvenience associated with foot bunions. Here is one:
A drink made from bay leaves
The purpose of this solution is to rid the body of the excess salt it stores to soothe the ailments caused by hallux valgus and bay leaves are just what you need to get there.
Method of preparation and use
Take first the equivalent of a tablespoon of bay leaves in crumbs and put it in a saucepan, bring to a boil in 300 ml of water. Pour the mixture into a thermos and let stand overnight. The next morning, filter your preparation. From now on, your natural cure is ready. You just have to drink sips throughout the day.
This method is to be applied for 3 days in a row, you will nevertheless have to redo the preparation each evening so that it is as fresh as possible. A week later, do the same again and this, for an overall duration of 2 months.

A more recurrent urge to urinate can occur following this treatment, which is quite normal. Know also that the first effects will appear after 10 days, which means that the pain will subside and the bursitis will disappear gradually.
