16 Body Language Signs He’s Into You

Few people realize this, but most of our signals are sent directly by our unconscious, through our body language.

And this can be used directly to tell if a man is really into you.

The good news is that men are much easier to decipher than women.

They choose no less than 52 moves to show men they’re interested. The average man chooses out of a maximum of 10 to show that he is into a woman.

Good news then – women are usually pretty good at deciphering body language. In case you aren’t, I’ve included the obvious in this article, along with signs that are more subtle, secret, and (occasionally) downright crazy.

1. He raises his eyebrows.

If you see someone raise their eyebrows at you, even for a second, you can know they like you before you even know it.

When we first see someone we’re attracted to, our eyebrows go up and down. If they like us, they raise their eyebrows. The whole thing lasts about a fifth of a second and happens all over the world – for everyone, regardless of age, race, or class.

Raising our eyebrows opens our eyes and allows more light to bounce off the surface, making them look bright, big, and inviting. A flash can be easy to miss, but they’re so reliable that if you find one, you can know someone likes you before they even register it.

Deliberately prolong this for up to a second and you’ll increase the chances of him getting the message you’re interested in.

2. His lips part.

Separated lips, flared nostrils. This is a clear sign of interest.

If he likes what he sees, his lips will automatically part for a moment when his eyes lock.

3. His nostrils flare and his face usually “opens”.

The raised eyebrows, parted lips, flared nostrils and wide eyes give the whole face a friendly “open” expression.

4. He will try to get your attention.

For some men, this may mean a subtle adjustment of the tie along with a silent prayer that you notice the sudden movement.

Others transform into Bippo the clown and get so loud, that they practically juggle and gesture with their hands a lot. Any exaggerated movement or gesture usually means he’s trying to stand out from the crowd.

Another revelation: he unknowingly separates himself from his friends by staying a bit away, hoping to be seen as an individual.

5. He straightens his tie or straightens his collar.

It’s time to soften the tie.

We all know what these haughty gestures mean. They are the equivalent of female lip-licking – “I want to look good for you.”

6. He will straighten or ruffle his hair.

The gestures he chooses depend on his hairstyle and what will make him look most flattering.

Guys do this unintentionally and more often than you think. Look back next time you go to the bathroom and I bet his hands will be on their way to touch your hair.

7. His eyebrows remain slightly raised as you speak.

A slightly surprised and questioning expression means he finds you fascinating. Or completely crazy.

Frankly, both are preferable to a man who looks at you with a soft, relaxed forehead and eyes.

8. He will fiddle with the socks and pull them up.

Pulling his socks up means he’s preening for you.

In the old days, men only dressed on special occasions, and while the suit might have survived months in mothballs, the socks invariably continued to wear out (until death).

Hence why he spent half the night pulling them up in an attempt to look to the side. He’s smoothing his leg and getting his socks straightened out.

If a guy pulls or adjusts his socks in your presence, it’s almost 100 percent a sign that he’s interested and trying to look his best.

9. His muscles contract.

Ahem. What I mean is that he’s going to get all his muscles tense, to show off his body in the best way. He’ll also stand right in front of you to show you his full attention and lean forward to get closer.

10. He will allow you to see him examining your body.

Some experts call this a “visual journey” – your eyes take a little cruise around your body, stopping momentarily at the most beautiful spots.

Make no mistake: he automatically scanned your body the second he laid eyes on you. The difference here is that he’s allowing you to see him doing it.

11. He will touch his face a lot while looking at you.

If he’s interested, he’ll stroke the cheek up and down with the backs of his fingers, touch his ears or rub his chin.

It’s a combination of nervous excitement, and arrogance. When we are attracted to someone, our skin (most noticeable, our lips and mouth) becomes increasingly sensitive to touch and other stimuli.

If you smoke, you will take more drags on your cigarette. If you’re going to drink, you’ll take more sips.

You start touching your own mouth more because your lips are ultra-sensitive and it feels good. Also, plant the idea in the other person’s mind that it might be a good idea to kiss you.

12. He will start squeezing the cup or can or roll from side to side, squeezing lightly as he does so.

When men are interested, they start playing with circular objects.

Because? They remember your breasts: your body is “leaking” what is going on in your subconscious mind.

13. He will sit on the edge of the seat to approach.

And if he crosses his legs, the top leg will point in your direction.

14. He will guide you by placing his arm at your elbow or lower back.

The arm guide is not just good manners and a polite way to guide you through the crowd; he’s making sure he knows exactly where you’re going by getting you there.

He doesn’t want to lose you! It also shows that you are being ‘cared for’, so no other men need to volunteer.

15. There will be many accidental touches “on purpose”.

They are not a coincidence.

16. He will lend you his coat or sweater.

Few guys would be happy to come back from the bar and find their girlfriend’s evening dress covered by another guy’s jacket.

It doesn’t matter if your teeth were chattering from life-threatening hypothermia. He wants it to be his jacket because it’s a protective, attractive, proprietary gesture.

It says “what’s mine is yours”, something that was close to his skin is now close to yours (and vice versa when you give it back). For starters, she smelled like him; it will have your scent when you return it. Plus, it connects you: it needs to stick around to recover.
