7 ways to stop loving someone who doesn’t or no longer loves you

Falling in love with someone you can’t have can seriously affect your self-esteem and your self-confidence.

You feel miserable, dissatisfied with yourself, and even depressed.  Obviously, you should get rid of these feelings as soon as possible. We’ll tell you what to do to overcome your unrequited love and start living a new life without the object of your passion.

Here are some tips that will help you let go of your pain after romantic failure.

1. Accept that this person doesn’t or no longer needs you.

If one day you think your loved one loves you but another day he or she disappears for a week without saying anything, it means that there is definitely no love.  Try to look at your love from a different perspective. Does it sound like classic romance? If you can admit that your loved one doesn’t love you, you are on the right track.

The next time you want to meet or call this person, think about how they usually feel about you. When you show how much you care for that person, all they feel towards you is condescension.

Do you want to be a crawling subject around your master’s feet?  Better to do something nicer.

2. Distract your attention.

Out of sight, out of mind. This should be your motto if you are to overcome your unrequited love. Stay as far away from your loved one as possible. If you can, the best option for you would be to take a long trip where you won’t be able to connect to the internet (for example to stop checking all of your social media accounts!).

If you can’t avoid meeting this person completely, try to keep your thoughts away from them. Even if the person you love is in the same room as you, that doesn’t mean you should always be thinking about them. Transform the flow of your thoughts in another direction. Think about your personal dreams and desires, not the happiness in your relationships.

3. Find someone who has had the same problems.

You are not the only person with relationship problems. Many people have experienced the pain of unrequited love, and they have overcome the pain. Talk to those close to you about your feelings. Ask them how they survived and what they did to be free from the pain. Sometimes you just need to hear simple words like “As I understand you”.

But don’t make the common mistake of starting to have fun dwelling on this topic. Otherwise, you will constantly think about this person and not forget about them at all. You only need a few good talking to make yourself feel better.

If you don’t feel like talking about your personal issues with someone, turn to the arts. The theme of unrequited love is extremely popular, and it’s easy to find a lot of books and movies that will help you overcome this situation.

4. Take care of yourself.

When you are absorbed in your dark thoughts, you usually start to neglect yourself. Even if you only feel pain, even if there is nothing you can do, take care of your appearance and your health.  Take a hot bubble bath with salts. Prepare a cup of tasty herbal tea and drink it with pleasure. Go shopping and buy new clothes. Change your hairstyle.

Don’t think about starting to smoke (or not smoking more than usual) or drinking. Don’t make rash decisions or actions, especially if they are dangerous to your health or your life. You may want to take care of the self-destruction and hope your loved one sees and understands your pain – but he or she won’t. And you will only get damaged nerves.

5. Do a good workout.

There are many ways to restore your emotional balance. The most effective is physical exercise. It can help you get rid of your negativity. Start jogging every morning or go to fitness classes. Go to the gym or the pool. Learn to ride a horse, you will definitely get a lot of positive emotions from communicating with animals.

If you want to combine sport and the arts, start dancing. Put on your favorite songs, and dance for as long as you can move. Go to a dance studio and learn to dance tango or rumba. You will have fun and get in shape at the same time.

6. Leave this dream behind.

There is a good Indian proverb that goes: If your horse is dead, dismount. Don’t let yourself go with hopeless dreams. There is nothing more destructive than waiting for someone to love you. If you see that someone isn’t paying you enough attention, don’t try to justify it. Because this person is not too embarrassed to show his love; she just doesn’t have feelings.

If a person doesn’t like you, they can find a thousand excuses not to hang out with you. Imagine yourself in the following situation: if you don’t want to go to a party or a date, how do you usually act?

7. Don’t get angry.

Failures in love are a part of life. If something goes against your plans, you shouldn’t start to hate yourself or anyone of the opposite gender. Trust, you will have your own happy ending. And don’t wish your loved one bad luck, that person doesn’t have to make sacrifices for your happiness.

Put yourself in that person’s shoes: are you ready to live your whole life with someone you only feel sorry for? You better think of all the good memories you have together and continue with a smile on your face.

FINALLY,

Think like a philosopher. Create a personal motto and always remember it when you are feeling down. This short sentence should restore your inner peace and make you believe in a better future. King Solomon had a ring with the inscription ”  This too shall pass  ” written on it. Remember these words, and your life will be easier.
